The McStarlite Company, located in Harbor City, California, successfully delivered the first A330neo inlet cowl “lipskin” to their customer, Airbus Operations SAS, this week. The first production parts were delivered on time, in support of a highly compressed production schedule from the customer.

The A330neo are new members of the Airbus Widebody Family that incorporates the latest generation Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engines, aerodynamic enhancements and new cabin features. Benefitting from the unbeatable economics, versatility and high reliability of the A330 Family, the A330neo reduces fuel consumption by 14% per seat, makes it the most cost efficient, medium range Widebody aircraft on the market. A team from Airbus Procurement and Engineering in France flew to Los Angeles to take delivery of the parts, in person.

McStarlite was chosen as a partner on this program, due in part, to the development of a new methodology for deep draw forming of parts without material reduction by chemical milling. Elimination of this process has allowed McStarlite to offer products that have demonstrated cost and delivery support improvements, while also being more friendly to the environment than the existing process.

The McStarlite Company was founded in 1973 in Southern California, and has become the largest supplier of airplane inlet cowls for the Aerospace industry. McStarlite currently supports all active Airbus product lines, as well as a variety of other Commercial, Business and Military programs throughout the world.
