McStarlite Installs 5-Axis Zimmerman Mill

McStarlite recently finished installing a Zimmerman FZ30 5-Axis gantry. This large machine tool greatly expands McStarlite’s ability to machine large, fabricated structures, including lipskins, domes and bulkheads. The 25,000 RPM machine has a work envelope of 236″ (6,000mm) x 132″ (3,360mm) x 59″ (1,500mm).

Remembering John W. Basso, Co-Founder of McStarlite

It is with great sadness that we share with our Aerospace Business partners and friends the recent passing of John W. Basso, 88, one of the Founders and Owners of the McStarlite Company in Harbor City, CA. John began his career in sheet metal forming and manufacturing in 1955 with the Starlite Company, a manufacturer of drop tanks, TR3 car fenders, toilet bowls, and lawnmowers.
