Remembering John W. Basso, Co-Founder of McStarlite
It is with great sadness that we share with our Aerospace Business partners and friends the recent passing of John W. Basso, 88, one of the Founders and Owners of the McStarlite Company in Harbor City, CA. John began his career in sheet metal forming and manufacturing in 1955 with the Starlite Company, a manufacturer of drop tanks, TR3 car fenders, toilet bowls, and lawnmowers.

McStarlite has successfully integrated an automated robot into its production facility. The McStarlite team, in cooperation with our partners, merged the new Kuka robot cell with the existing manufacturing process, to support polishing (jitterbug) of the lipskin segments supporting the A350 program for Airbus.
Coronavirus (COVID-19) Pandemic Company Re-opening
Following the statewide stay-at-home health orders issued by California Governor Gavin Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti – meant to help combat the spread of the Coronavirus – McStarlite Company will extend the closure for two additional weeks, with a firm plan in place to fully restart the operations beginning May 4, 2020.

McStarlite celebrated with Leonardo, the delivery of the 10,000th lipskin for the CFM-56B program. A luncheon was held at McStarlite to commemorate the event. McStarlite is thankful for the over 25 year business relationship with Leonardo.
McStarlite joins Delta Airlines in celebrating the start of A350 service from Los Angeles to Shanghai
McStarlite joins Delta Airlines in celebrating the start of A350 service from Los Angeles to Shanghai. McStarlite is a key supplier to the program, providing the lipskins for the engines. In 2017, Delta became the first U.S. airline to operate the A350-900 aircraft. The celebration was held at the Flight Path Museum in Santa Monica, CA.

The McStarlite Company, located in Harbor City, California, successfully delivered the first A330neo inlet cowl “lipskin” to their customer, Airbus Operations SAS, this week. The first production parts were delivered on time, in support of a highly compressed production schedule from the customer.
McStarlite Celebrates 40 years
I am so proud and thankful for my families success and ownership over the past 40 years in the Aerospace Industry, provided RSI being side by side the whole way through the rollercoaster it has been and keeping our connection tight and long-term with our domestic and over sea’s customers.
